PODERE SAN ROCCHINO – ITALY
Loc. Cerreto – Borgo a Mozzano
The main building dates back to the end of the 1700s and belonged until 1878 to Baron Tossizza of Livorno, who had taken it over from the ecclesiastical properties. For 130 years, the Massei family has managed the entire estate, also acquiring the surrounding farmhouses (also dating back to the 18th century) and making it productive by growing wine, oil, lavender and saffron. He has also integrated the agricultural activity with that of agritourism, creating 5 apartments.
The hilly position (about 100 metres above sea level) is excellent, as it enjoys protection from the gentle hills to the south, while to the north there is maximum exposure to the sun. The view sweeps over the middle Serchio valley and of course over the surrounding green hills.
The entire property is composed of approx. 3 and a half hectares of surrounding land with olive groves and more than 3 and a half hectares of land with ancient chestnut trees in the neighbouring areas. There are 3 farmhouses that are part of it :
The Casale San Rocchino is made up of : the main part (dining room, cellar, living room, ,office, 3 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms ) and 3 flats of various types ( lavender , olive tree, saffron ) with independent entrance ( 500 sqm approx ). Renovation completed in June 2006. To the side of the driveway there is a car park ( for approx. 30 cars ) and a lavender cultivation.
The barn adjacent to the main house is used for employees on the upper floor, a warehouse and laundry room on the ground floor, while the veranda has been organised as a relaxation room and holistic massage room (180 sqm. total).
Casale Scalabrino, which is approx. 200 m from the main building, consists of 2 flats with separate entrances, each with its own garden, veranda and car park. They were renovated in 2002 and as well as having a splendid view over the valley, they are in excellent condition, both in terms of structure and furnishings (120 sqm. tot.)
